FAQ's

Q. "Is learning to dance difficult?"

A. At Desert Dance Club one of our nationally certified DVIDA instructors will put you at ease while making it FUN and EASY. From your first lesson you will be moving to the basics in the dances of your choice.

Q. "What do I wear?"

A. It is important that you wear comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing. Leather soled shoes are best. Ladies it is important that you wear a shoe with an enclosed heel. You may prefer to purchase a pair of dance shoes from our "Dance Store".

Q. "Do I need a partner to learn?"

A. No. You do not need a partner for lessons as one of our trained instructors will serve as your partner as well as your teacher.

Q. "Where can I put my lessons to use?"

A. Whether you choose to take advantage of our spacious ballroom for our open dances or choose the imtimate atmosphere of one of the valley's many night spots, the opportunity to use your new found past time is only limited to your imagination. Weddings, holiday parties, or even a cruise vacation are just a few venues for you to try out your dancing shoes.

Q. "Can you teach someone with no rhythm to dance?"

A. All of us have one type of natural rhythm or another. Our heartbeat, breathing pattern,  or even the gait of our walk indicates that we all have a natural rhythm. Most individuals that claim to have no rhthym spent little time actually listening to music or do not know what to listen for. As you develop your skills in dancing you will learn to identify the beat  as well as which particular dance to do.

Q. "How much does it cost?"

A. Desert Dance Club offers an introductory offer for you to "try us out" with very little investment of time or money. Moving forward a private session starts at $45 (some discounts may apply). There are many different programs available to suit your personal desires and needs.

Q. "Why should I learn to dance?"

A. Enhance your social skills, meet people, and create a new network of friends. Improve your physical and mental health. Improve your posture, increase your confidence, and feel better in your own skin while enjoying the favorite style/type of music. Develope a family legacy through ballroom dancing to pass on for generations to come.

Q. "Will I look foolish learning how to dance at my age?"

One great thing about ballroom dancing... there are no age limits! It is never too early and certainly never too late to start. As adults when learning anything new we tend to put too much pressure on ourselves that we should already know how to do this. When you think about it, what skill do you possess that didn't have to learn? The truth is everything we do well we have learned along the way. At Desert Dance Club, let us help you gain the knowledge and confidence necessary so you can start enjoying yourself on the dance floor today.

Q. "What if I only want to learn enough to get by on the dance floor?"

A. At Desert Dance Club we encourage your input on not only which dances you would like to learn but also the type of dancer as well. Whether you wish to become proficient in a few dances with a library of a few patterns that will serve you in most social situations, or become an advanced social dancer able to dance to any song with any partner, Desert Dance Club has the right program for you.

Q. "How long does it take?"

A. The length of time is decided by many variables; the consistency of lessons, the desire of the student, practice time outside the studio. Prior activities that are similiar in nature as sports, other aspects of dance, martial arts will have a roll in the learning curve. The most important aspect is attitude. When we approach anything with an open, positive mind anything is possible. For optimum results the average social program takes anywhere from 3 - 6 months.
